When choosing to buy tire for heavy equipment like tractor, you need to know a bit of information about the tire (tyre) you are looking for to ensure you buy the right product for the type you need. Choosing the right tire for your tractor is not as difficult as understanding what the farm work required on your tractor can handle. Below, VIETTIRE guides some tips to help you choose tractor tire for the best use of farming.

Types of tractor tires

Modern tractor is using a few basic tires. These tires are rated starting from R-1, which is a standard for dry land in agriculture or farming. The R-1 gives your tractor all the traction you need with the set of lugs in contrast to the complex grooves. If you treat wet, muddy ground such as rice fields and other specific farming activities, R-2 provides better tread depth so your tractor can operate on the ground even when in mud. R-3 tires are the perfect choice for tractor tires that can operate on loose ground like gravel and sand while keeping the ground impact to a minimum. R-4 is a popular tire for industrial use and provides more traction through an interlaced groove and lugs design. This tire also has a less harmful impact on the turf. Most will be satisfied with R-1 or R-3, but if you use it for wet soil or work on hard ground, look for the corresponding R-2 and R-4 tires.

All these tractor tires are suitable for rear wheels, depending on your specific needs. The front tires can also use these, but usually it is best to go with special ribbed front tires to increase grip. A single F-1 tire is great for penetrating deep into the ground to increase steering control. The three-ribbed or F-2 tires are also in control but provide the minimum slip from the raised center rib. F-2M has four ribs and is best for heavy loads on hard surfaces.

Tractor tire load rating

Without a high enough load index, your tractor tire won't be able to operate efficiently. Oversized vehicles will consume fuel at an increased speed or otherwise will cause the machine to not run. Load ratings specify the maximum tire pressure measured in PSI. Often used stars to evaluate load rating and often displayed after width and diameter rating. Ratings are as follows: 1 star has a maximum of 18 psi, 2 stars have a maximum of 24 psi and 3 stars have a maximum of 30 psi. Those psi numbers combined with tire size determine the total capacity.

Bias and Radial tractor tires

At lower speeds, bias tires are less expensive to maintain and replace than their radial rivals. They have extremely high durability, with resistance to damage from obstacles and debris. Although radial tires are usually more expensive, but they provide operators with a quieter ride, radi tires maintain longer (especially on hard ground) and these tires do not have a strong impact on the soil or the turf. They can run at lower air pressure, which can save fuel and improve efficiency.
